Prior announced Maxol’s new Quality Assurance Scheme called ‘Fuels You Can Trust’ which is aimed at protecting Irish motorists from the hazards of purchasing illegal or tampered diesel fuel.
 
The introduction of ‘Fuels You Can Trust’ is the first initiative of its kind by any fuel marketers in Ireland and sets out to protect bona fide Irish fuel retailers as well as Irish consumers. Currently, fraudsters use chemical agents to remove markers and dye contained in agricultural diesel fuel to make it difficult for the Revenue Commissioners to detect that it is illicit.
 
The announcement received attention both regionally and nationally and from the motor press community.
